Imphal, Aug. 20 -- The 34th Manipuri Language Day was celebrated today at the MSFDS Auditorium, Palace Compound, here, commemorating the inclusion of Manipuri (Meiteilon) in
the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution on August 20, 1992.
The event was jointly organised by the Manipuri Language Day State Level Celebration Committee, the Department of Art & Culture, and the Directorate of Language Planning and Implementation, Manipur.
The celebration featured deliberations by Prof. W. Nabakumar Singh (Anthropology, Manipur University, Retd.) and Prof. Yashawanta Singh (Linguistics, Manipur University, Retd.), who
stressed the urgent need to address the declining condition of the language. They underlined
