Los Angeles, Jan. 11 -- A total of 30 people were detained, cited and released overnight during demonstrations in Minneapolis, the largest city in the U.S. state of Minnesota, authorities said on Saturday.

These protesters were detained "after blocking roadways and damaging property during a downtown march," the city of Minneapolis said in a statement, urging protesters to remain peaceful amid federal shooting aftermath.

From Friday to Saturday, a large crowd of several hundred protesters gathered near the Canopy Hotel and Depot Renaissance Hotel.

The Depot Renaissance Hotel suffered approximately 6,000 U.S. dollars in damage to windows and in graffiti, according to the city.
