Srinagar, Sept. 10 -- Three Army soldiers were killed when an avalanche struck the Siachen glacier - the world's highest battlefield - in Ladakh during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, officials said.
The soldiers were trapped under the snow for several hours, and despite sustained efforts, all three succumbed. However, one officer was pulled out alive, they added.
Officials said immediate rescue operations were launched with specialised teams and equipment.
