Chandigarh, July 25 -- Three minor beggars, aged 10-15, escaped from the All India Pingalwara Charitable Society's care centre in Amritsar, where they were placed under the Punjab government's "Jeevanjyot 2.0" campaign.

The children, part of a group of six rescued from the streets last week by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), fled by scaling a wall near the bus stand using a ladder.

The escape, executed between 1:30 am and 2:00 am on Wednesday-Thursday, was meticulously planned, with the children exploiting a CCTV blind spot.

Despite two female constables on duty, the minors evaded security. A Daily Diary Report (DDR) has been filed at Rambagh police station, and the search for the children is underway.
