Jakarta, April 21 -- Flooding triggered by heavy rains has killed three people in Indonesia's western province of Lampung, according to the province's disaster mitigation agency on Monday.
Wahyu Hidayat, spokesman for the agency, told local media that a joint rescue team evacuated the three victims and transported them to nearby hospitals for further identification.
Torrential rains have reportedly been lashing the provincial capital, Bandar Lampung, since early Monday, submerging houses and public facilities in some areas.
He said that the extent of damage to houses and public facilities remains unknown, and rescuers are currently prioritizing evacuation and aid efforts for affected residents.
"We urge the public to remain vigilant....
