Chitrakoot, Oct. 21 -- Keeping a unique tradition alive, the famous Donkey Fair began today on the banks of the Mandakini river in Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh.

This fair is not only a local attraction but also holds special historical and cultural significance, with people from far-flung areas coming to witness the sale and purchase of the donkeys.

According to fair organisers this year, approximately 5,000 donkeys are expected to be bought and sold, with a likely turnover over Rs 1 crore.

Traders from various parts of the country, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Nepal and even Afghanistan are expected to participate in this fair.
