Agartala, Aug. 26 -- Police arrested three women in connection with the moral policing of a housewife and the brutal assault on her in public, 10 days after the incident.
The incident sparked outrage after a video of brutality went viral on social media. Superintendent of Police (Gomati) Kiran Kumar said the video footage showed a mob mercilessly thrashing the woman in public on Aug 16 while residents reportedly attempted to suppress the matter.
The accused were identified as Manju Rani Das, Putul Rani Das, and Hamida Banu.
