Khartoum, July 24 -- At least 27 civilians were killed and 43 others injured in a recent attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a village in western Sudan, a volunteer group and an eyewitness said today.

"Yesterday (Wednesday), the RSF launched an attack on the village of Brema Rashid, located north of the city of Al-Nuhud in West Kordofan State, leaving 27 civilians dead and 43 others seriously injured," the Sudanese Doctors Network, a volunteer group, said in a statement.



"An armed RSF unit violently assaulted unarmed civilians inside their homes, targeting women, children, and the elderly," it said, calling the attack a "heinous crime" and "a crime against humanity."
