Chennai, March 15 -- At least 23 Enginneering students were injured when the college bus in which they were returning was hit by a goods train of a private cement factory in Karur district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday evening, even as Southern Railway clarified that the railway line where the mishap occurred was not owned and operated by it.

The mishap occurred at a level crossing in a private railway line owned and operated by Chettinad Cement, Railway sources said.

About 25 students were returning from the college in the bus, when the train, transporting goods between the Cement fctory's plants, rammed into it injuring 23 students, including the driver.
