Rohit MitraNew Delhi, Dec. 28 -- Indian Hockey's growth trajectory was expected to accelerate in 2025 after the Hangzhou Asian Games Gold medal in 2023 and Paris Olympics Bronze medal in 2024, however the year can be described as a mixed bag for the national sport. The year had a promising start with the return of the high octane Hockey India League(HIL) in January after a gap of seven years, the added attraction was the addition of the Women's Hockey India League(HIL) featuring four franchises.
The league achieved extraordinary TV and online following, it was estimated that the season had a viewership of 40.8 million, an impressive jump of 48 per cent over the 2017 season.
