Vijayawada, Nov. 18 -- Andhra Pradesh Minister for Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar today announced that 2,36,284 metric tonnes of paddy produce has been purchased from farmers so far.

Addressing a press conference here, the Minister said that the government purchased 2,36,284 metric tonnes of paddy from 32,793 farmers and credited Rs 560.40 crore into their bank accounts.

The paddy purchase is being carried out in a transparent and trouble-free manner. As many as 16,000 staffers had been deployed to purchase paddy produced from the farmers across the state, the Minister informed.

The district Collectors and Joint Collectors are constantly monitoring the paddy purchase process, he mentioned.
