Srinagar, July 26 -- At ground zero in Drass, Ladakh, the main function of the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas witnessed the two Union Ministers Sanjay Seth and Mansukh Mandaviya and Chief of Army Staff Gen Upendra Dwivedi leading the wreath-laying ceremony at the Kargil War Memorial, commemorating India's victory in the 1999 conflict.

Drass, often referred to as the coldest inhabited place, was at the heart of the 1999 Kargil War.

The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta; Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu; and senior civil and security officials paid tribute to the fallen soldiers on the 26th anniversary of the Kargil War. Retired senior officers who were part of the Kargil War also paid floral tributes at the memorial.
