Islamabad, Feb. 21 -- Two policemen were killed and another was injured when unidentified gunmen attacked a police check post in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, officials said on Friday.

The attack took place at around 8:40 p.m. local time (1540 GMT) on Thursday night on the outskirts of the provincial capital city of Quetta, the police said in a statement.

The injured officer was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Security forces launched a search operation in the area to apprehend the assailants, who fled after the attack.

No group has claimed the assault yet.
