Cairo, July 20 -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 jolted northern and central Iran at 2137 GMT on Saturday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 36.72 degrees north latitude and 55.10 degrees east longitude, it said.
Also at 2137 GMT, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 jolted 31 km east of the village of Qarnabad, northeastern Iran, it said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 36.84 degrees north latitude and 54.94 degrees east longitude, it added.
