New Delhi, Sept. 26 -- India said today that since January 20 this year 2,417 Indian nationals have been deported or repatriated from the US, and reiterated that it is against illegal migration and wants to promote legal pathways of migration.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said this to a question regarding the case of Harjeet Kaur, a 73-year-old Sikh woman from Punjab who was deported from the United States earlier this week after living there for more than 30 years.
