Chennai, Nov. 30 -- Promising all assistance to the Cyclone Ditwah battered Sri Lanka,Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin today said 177 Tamils who were stranded in Colomboairport due to cacellation of flights, were repatriated safely to the State in the first phase.
In a statement here, he said of the 177 Tamiols, 133 were men, 60 women and four children.
All of them were safely brought to Tamil Nadu by the Non-Resident Tamils Welfare andRehabilitation deartment officials, which had acted swiftly, established contacts with theIndian Embassy in Colombo and ensure their safe repatriation.
They landed at the Chennai International airport at 1105 hrs today, Mr Stalin said.
