Aizawl, March 24 -- Mizoram reported 145 deaths due to tuberculosis (TB) in 2025 even as the state achieved a cure rate of 84 per cent among patients, officials said on Tuesday during the observance of World TB Day across the state.

The central function held in Aizawl was attended by health officials and stakeholders, with National Health Mission (NHM) Mizoram Mission Director Dr. R. Lalchhuanawma gracing the occasion as chief guest.

Providing an overview of the TB situation, Dr. Zairemmawii, Medical Officer at the Aizawl District TB Centre, said that 2,275 TB cases were detected through testing during the year. Of these, 146 patients were diagnosed with Multi Drug Resistant TB (MDR-TB), posing a significant treatment challenge.
