Chennai, Aug. 6 -- In yet another incident, 14 fishermen from Tamil Nadu were arrested
by Sri Lankan Navy personnel in two separate incidents, while they were fishing on the high
seas today.
Police sources said the fishermen hailing from Ramanathapuram district had ventured into
the sea for fishing last night, when they were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy perseonne
for fishing in their territorial waters after crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line
(IMBL).
The fishermen were fishing in two boats (ten of them in one boat and four in the other)
near Katchatheevu islet when they were arrested and their vessels impounded by the
Lankan Navy.
