Srinagar, April 19 -- Nearly 15000 cases have been sanctioned under the Jammu and Kashmir Government's Marriage Assistance Scheme during this year.
The scheme has emerged as a significant support system for underprivileged families, enabling thousands across the Kashmir division to solemnize weddings with dignity.
According to official data, a total of 14,965 cases have been sanctioned under the scheme in the Kashmir division during the financial year 2024-25 alone.
The Department of Social Welfare, which implements the scheme, has disbursed a substantial Rs 74.82 crore in financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries during this period, an official spokesman said.
