Imphal, Sept. 11 -- Just two days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Manipur, at least thirteen members of the BJP's Phungyar constituency unit in Ukhrul district have tendered their resignation from the party's primary membership with immediate effect.

In a joint statement issued today, the resigning members cited "deep concern over the present state of affairs within the party" as the reason behind their decision. They pointed to a "lack of consultation, inclusiveness, and respect for grassroots leadership" as the primary factors compelling them to part ways with the saffron party.
