Chennai, Dec. 23 -- A total of 12 fishermen from Tamil Nadu were arrested on Tuesday morning by the SriLankan Navy personnel for allegedly fishing in their territorial waters, even as Chief Minister M K Stalin dashedoff a letter to External Affairs Minister (EAM) Minister Dr S Jaishankar expressing deep concern and urging himto take immediate steps to secure their release using diplomatic channels.
The fishermen, hailing from the island town of Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram district, were arrested bythe Lankan Navy for fishing in their waters by crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) inthe high seas early this morning.
