Bhubaneswar, Dec. 8 -- Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the Odisha Assembly on Monday that 12 Maoists have surrendered and 21 were killed in encounters with the police over the past one and a half years.
Responding to a question from Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahnipati, Majhi said the incidents occurred between June 1, 2024, and November 30, 2025.
He noted that of the 21 Maoists killed, 17 died during a joint operation conducted by security forces from Odisha and Chhattisgarh along their shared border.
The Chief Minister further stated that nine Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected districts have been brought under the union Government's Security Related Expenditure (SRE) scheme as of the first week of November 2025.
