Kolkata, Sept. 17 -- At least a dozen people were injured, most of them critically, when a chartered bus carrying pilgrims to Gangasagar hit a parked truck on Delhi-Kolkata National Highway No 19 at Gurap in West Bengal's Hooghly district in the early hours today, official sources said.

The bus was going from Deoghar in Jharkhand on a Char Dham pilgrimage tour, and was heading for Gangasagar in South 24 Parganas with around 56 people on board. The bus lost control and hit the rear of a parked truck at Gurap in Hooghly district at dusk, police said.

Police said about 12, who suffered critical wounds, have been taken to the Bardhaman Medical College and Hospital.
