Chennai, Sept. 29 -- A total of 12 fishermen were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navyin the early hours of today for allegedly fishing in their Territorial waters and confiscatedtheir boats.
The fishermen hailed the Karaikal in union Territory of Puducherry and Nagapattinamand Mayiladuthurai districts of Tamil Nadu.
The fishermen went for fishing in mechanised boat from Karikal fishing harbour.
The fishermen were fishing in high seas when they were apprehended by the LankanNavy personnel for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL)and fishing in the Lankan territory.
After arresting them and impounding their baots, the fishermen were taken to theKankesanthurai.
