Shimla, Dec. 25 -- : Emergency health services in Himachal Pradesh are likely to be affected as operators of 108 ambulance services announced a strike beginning midnight of Thursday. The decision was taken by the 108 Employees' Action Committee under the banner of (CITU).

CITU State Secretary Vajinder Mehra said that all employees associated with 108 ambulance services would observe a 48-hour strike, continuing until 2000 hrs on December 27, citing the failure of negotiations with the authorities.

He alleged that despite providing critical emergency services, the ambulance staff were being exploited by the operating company and were not being treated as regular employees.
