Pune, June 27 -- Following the unfortunate incident in Mumbai on June 9, wherein some passengers lost their lives while travelling on the footboards of a local train, the Pune Division of Central Railway launched a special intensive drive to curb such unsafe and life-threatening practices, and apprehended 105 passengers for travelling on the footboard or steps of moving trains.
Travelling on the footboard, steps, roof, or engine of a train is strictly prohibited under Section 156 of the Indian Railways Act, 1989.
