Lucknow, Aug. 9 -- Uttar Pradesh has been witnessing intermittent showers for the past several days, disrupting daily life across the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the spell between August 1 and 7 brought exceptionally heavy rainfall-about 103 per cent higher than normal for the period.
Data from the Lucknow Meteorological Centre shows that the state recorded 104.1 mm of rainfall during this week, against the normal 51.4 mm-more than double the average.
In eastern Uttar Pradesh, rainfall reached 98 mm compared to the usual 51.5 mm, marking a 90 per cent surplus, while western Uttar Pradesh saw 112.9 mm of rain against the normal 51.4 mm, a 120 per cent increase.
