Mumbai, Nov. 19 -- Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today announced that project-affected persons in the Thane Municipal Corporation limits, who are purchasing individual housing units under the JNNURM and BSUP schemes, will be given a 1 percent waiver on the stamp duty surcharge while executing their housing agreement. Additionally, a nominal amount of 100 will be charged for the duplicate document, he said.
The JNNURM and BSUP schemes, a joint initiative of the Central Government, State Government, and Thane Municipal Corporation, are meant for the urban poor. Under these schemes, land developed by the Thane Municipal Corporation-currently occupied by slum settlements-is being used to rehabilitate residents into BSUP housing units.
