Seoul, April 6 -- A helicopter crashed in Daegu, South Korea, during efforts to contain a wildfire on Sunday, according to Yonhap News Agency.
One pilot was confirmed dead; he was on board at the time of the crash, said Yonhap.
The helicopter was deployed to put out the wildfire at 3:41 p.m. local time and crashed about 100 metres away from the fire site.
On Sunday, a total of five helicopters were mobilised to extinguish the forest fire.
Local police and relevant authorities plan to conduct a related investigation as soon as the site is cleared up, Yonhap reported, quoting firefighting authorities.
