Hyderabad, March 26 -- Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday informed the Assembly that a significant number of people, particularly youth, are falling prey to illegal online betting applications, resulting in heavy financial losses and, in some cases, tragic consequences.
In a written reply to questions raised during question hour, the Chief Minister stated that 1,456 cases related to illegal online betting apps were registered across the state between 2023 and February 2026 through the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP).
In Hyderabad city alone, multiple cases have been reported, with total losses estimated at about Rs 4.35 crore.
