New Delhi, Aug. 1 -- A total of 1,704 dialysis centres are currently functional under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program (PMNDP) in 751 districts spanning all 36 States and Union Territories, the Government informed the Lok Sabha today.

"The Government has recommended setting up haemodialysis centres initially in all district hospitals. Once saturation is achieved at this level, the programme is extended to Community Health Centres at the taluka level, depending on the assessed demand and gaps," Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, provided these details in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
