New Delhi, Feb. 5 -- The Ministry of Railways is undertaking wide-ranging upgrades across infrastructure, safety systems and passenger amenities, union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Indian Railways has adopted a long-term, phased approach to redevelop railway stations by preparing comprehensive master plans. The scheme focuses on improved station access and circulation, integration with both sides of cities, upgraded station buildings, better waiting halls and toilets, wider foot overbridges and concourses, lifts, escalators and ramps, improved platforms and covers, and enhanced passenger information systems.
