Kabul, June 21 -- A total of 1,247 Afghan refugee families returned to their homeland Afghanistan in a single day on Friday, after being deported from Iran and Pakistan, according to the state-run Bakhtar news agency on Saturday. All the returnees had received necessary assistance from government bodies at the crossing points before departing for their provinces.

Iran and Pakistan have been deporting several hundred to thousands of Afghan nationals regularly, due to the influx of migrants. However, their treatment of nationals has been heavily criticised by the Taliban regime, which has asked for the countries to show leniency towards them, and also directed authorities to not harass them.
