Srinagar, July 6 -- "Youm-e-Ashura" was observed today with religious fervour in Kashmir , as 'Zuljinah' processions were taken out in the old city and other Shia-majority areas in the Valley.

The biggest 'Zuljinah' procession was taken out in the old city to mourn the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain, his family and companions during the battle of Karbala 1400 years ago. The procession was led by senior Shia leaders.

J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also joined the 'Zuljinah' procession at Botakadal, downtown area in Srinagar.
