Shillong, Nov. 22 -- Sri Lankan Booker Prize winner Shehan Karunatilaka feels after centuries of being fed an European narrative in literature, South Asian literature is coming of age.

Karunatilaka, whose debut novel 'Chinaman: The legend of Pradeep Mathew' in 2010 went on to win the prestigious Commonwealth Book Prize, was speaking at the Shillong Literary Festival being held here. The author observed that people from this region are now telling their own stories in their own voices.

"We have been hearing the European story for the last five centuries. In the last 500 years, the world is all about Shakespeare, Renaissance, Colonies and that's not the only story. So now this is changing . I think it's an exciting time ahead for all of us,...
