Los Angeles, Nov. 16 -- The cult-favorite Sharknado franchise-believed to have ended in 2018 after six gloriously chaotic sequels-is officially making a comeback with a new installment titled Sharknado Origins, Variety reported.
Produced by The Asylum-the studio behind the original low-budget hit about tornadoes flinging sharks onto Los Angeles, 'Sharknado Origins' is slated to begin production later this year, with director Anthony Ferrante returning to the helm. Casting details are expected to be announced soon, with a summer 2026 release planned.
