Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 18 -- The Kerala Police arrested 1,663 persons during a three-day statewide special drive codenamed "Operation Round Up," launched to reinforce law and order and ensure public safety across Kerala.
Of those taken into custody, 691 were involved in grave criminal offences, while 972 were absconding accused in various cases who had been evading arrest.
The operation was carried out on the directive of State Police Chief Ravada A Chandrasekhar, with a focus on tracking down habitual offenders, goondas, repeat offenders in serious crimes, thieves, and other wanted persons and bringing them before the law.
