Jammu, Oct. 9 -- union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today stated that multiple elections are incompatible with the nation's consistent development and growth. He emphasised that an uninterrupted electoral system with defined timelines is key to a nation's sustained progress.

Addressing a programme titled "Students for One Nation One Election" at the University of Jammu, Dr. Singh cited the example of the USA, where the Presidential election is never held before the completion of the four-year term, even during compelling situations.

He recalled that when both US President John Kennedy was assassinated and President Richard Nixon resigned after impeachment, a midterm election was never considered.
