Shillong, Feb. 28 -- The Meghalaya government is committed to transforming the state into a 10-billion-dollar economy by 2028 and enhancing further development in keeping with the "Meghalaya Spirit", Governor Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar said on Friday.

"As we continue our ambitious journey to transform Meghalaya into a 10-billion-dollar economy by 2028, we recognise this moment as an opportunity to reaffirm our collective commitment to the development of our great state," he said.

Delivering his maiden address during the first day of Meghalaya's budget session, Vijayashankar who attended the session in a wheelchair, said the government envisions a Meghalaya which caters to the distinct needs and ambitions of the local communities.
