Satara, Jan. 4 -- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today highlighted the importance of the Marathi language saying "Marathi is not just a language, it is our identity, our culture and our responsibility. If the language ends, then existence will also end."Speaking at the closing ceremony of four-day 99th All India Marathi Sahitya Sammelan at Chhatrapati Shahu Stadium here this evening, he said that along with this, no compulsion will be made to use Hindi language, but the respect and reverence of Marathi language will be further enhanced in Maharashtra, he assured.
