Kolkata, March 17 -- Launching a scathing attack on Tuesday against the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Election Commission, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee - after releasing the list of candidates, asked the BJP to engage in a "democratic and non-violent" electoral contest.
The Chief Minister also came down heavily on the Centre and the Election Commission alleging an attempt to influence the poll process in West Bengal.
Speaking after announcing that the All India Trinamool Congress will contest 291 out of 294 seats, Banerjee alleged that large numbers of people were being brought in from outside the state.
"An artificial crisis over essential supplies like cooking gas was created in the state. Let there be a political fight....
