Mumbai, Dec. 3 -- Senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar accused the Election Commission of becoming a "puppet" in the hands of the Maharashtra government, after the Nagpur Bench ordered that the counting of votes for municipal council and nagar panchayat elections will be held on December 21.
Wadettiwar said the decision had disrupted the entire election process, calling it a "mockery" and alleging that both the government and the Election Commission were responsible.
He accused the authorities of misinterpreting the Supreme Court's ruling to showcase the provision of 27% OBC reservation for political gain.
