The statement comes amid a growing wave of misinformation circulating on social media in the wake of heightened tensions in West Asia.

Over the past 48 hours, scattered online rumours claiming disruptions in petrol and diesel supplies triggered anxiety in parts of the country, with isolated instances of crowding at fuel stations.
