Srinagar, April 4 -- Hurriyat Conference chairman and Kashmir's chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday said once again he was placed under house arrest, calling it a sign of their "Jama Masjid phobia."
Mirwaiz took to social media to express his anger.
"Another Friday, another house arrest and the authorities Jama Masjid phobia continues," said Mirwaiz, who also heads the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), J&K's largest religious representative body.
Mirwaiz linked these restrictions to broader developments across the country, especially the passage of the Waqf Amendment Bill, which he called "highly marginalising" for Muslims.
