New Delhi, Aug. 15 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an oblique message to US from Red Fort,
today declared "India will not compromise'' on the interests of farmers and emphasized that he stood
like a wall for them and livestock keepers protecting their rights and livelihoods against any
detrimental policy.
Addressing the nation on India's 79th Independence Day he said Agriculture remains a cornerstone of India's development, with India No. 1 in milk, pulses and jute, and No. 2 in rice, wheat, cotton, fruits and vegetables. Agricultural exports have crossed Rs 4 lakh crore, reflecting the nation's global competitiveness.
