Brahmanbaria, March 20 -- A youth was beaten by some local people on Wednesday night over alleged attempt to rape a 7-year-old child at Bitgharin Nabinagar in Brahmanbaria district.

The injured man is Abdul Khaled, 25, son of Anish Mia of Bitghar village.

Nabinagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Razzak said that Abdul Khalek tried to rape the child on the roof of a primary school in Bitghar village on Tuesday afternoon.

Later, sensing the presence of local people he fled.
