Dhaka, May 31 -- West Indies smashed Pakistan by seven wickets in their first World Cup game on Friday at the Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

Pakistan batted first after losing the toss and were bundled for 105 in 21.4 overs. West Indies chased the target of 106 down in 13.4 overs. And with this, the Carribean boys ensured a flying start into the World Cup.

While chasing a small target, Chris Gayle hit a fifty and along the way, hit six fours and three sixes. Besides him, Nicholas Pooran was unbeaten at 34. West Indies were 108 for three in 13.4 overs.

Oshane Thomas was the man of the match for his four-wicket haul for 27 runs.

Earlier, Pakistan were bundled for 105 as they appeared clueless against the pace attack of the Caribbeans.
