Dhaka, Jan. 19 -- A trainee recruit constable (RTC) was injured after being accidentally shot during firing training at Mahera Police Training Centre in Tangail on Monday morning.

The injured was identified as Md Masum, 19.

Maruf Abdullah, Assistant Inspector General (health & welfare) of Police Headquarters, said a bullet from a Chinese rifle suddenly struck Md Masum in the left shoulder from behind while firing practice was underway at the training centre.

He was immediately rescued and taken to Tangail General Hospital where he received primary treatment.

As his condition worsened, Masum was later airlifted by a RAB helicopter to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for advanced treatment.
