Lalmonirhat, July 28 -- Train services on the Lalmonirhat-Burimari route resumed partially on Monday afternoon, three and a half hours after a head-on collision between two trains disrupted rail communication.

The accident took place near the Lalmonirhat railway station work shed due to a signal error. Officials said the Dhaka-bound Lalmoni Express had just arrived and was heading toward the work shed when the Parbatipur-bound Burimari Commuter Train entered the same line, leading to the collision.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

Train movement remained suspended until 5:30pm, when local trains were cleared to operate. Long-distance services are yet to resume.
