, Oct. 24 -- A tea shop owner ended his life on Friday in Jatrabari, unable to bear humiliation from creditors over unpaid loans.

The victim, Md. Monir, 50, committed suicide around noon at his shop near Dania Sarai Mosque area.

His family originally hails from Purbo Charkali in Bhola Sadar, but they were living in a rented house in Dania, Jatrabari.

Monir's son, Miraj, said that his father hanged himself with a rope from a fan in the shop.

"We found him unconscious and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead," he added.
